Bad Poor Dreadful! This describe opened in theaters October 8 1969 Starring Burt Reynolds as Caine. Caine is overseas running guns for foreign countries. He’s finish by three guys dressed as cops and they go through the cargo that he has on the abet of his truck. After the first leer, Caine starts to leave when the three men settle to see again. While going deeper into the cargo the peruse the guns that Caine is hauling. While running from the three men Caine looses his brakes and the truck goes over the side of the mountain. Now Caine not only has to collect away into the nearest town he also needs to catch another plot to produce money. Now a few thoughts on the movie itself. This was a dreadful terrible relate to the point where I turned it off 15 exiguous into it. The movie has no leading lady in it and the well known star was Burt Reynolds. This was not only I a kill of Reynolds talent, this movie should’ve never been shown in public. I give this movie 1 weasel star only because there’s no other number to exhaust lower then 1.

In case you’re unusual to the world of “Mystery Science Theater 3000″ (MST3K for short, that what us fans - “Misties” - call it), this is the celebrated TV reveal where a silhouette of a man and two robots sitting in theater seats provide running commentary for some of the worst movies ever made. The ninety-minute episodes are also scattered with sketches and songs and amount to some of the smartest, most pop-culture savvy, side-splitting comedy ever made.

This is the first of the four-episode collections of “Mystery Science Theater 3000″ offered from Rhino (previously they had only offered them in single DVD editions) . It contains an challenging mix of movies: a science-fiction fright flick, a drama about skydivers, a 60s beach comedy, and a thriller on a tropical island. Three of the episodes reach from the superior sixth season, when Mike Nelson was the human host and the wisecracks and comments had become razor though-provoking and quick and enraged. One episode comes from the second season, when the present had a more laid-back, agreeable humor when Joel Hodgson was the host. Although this collection skews toward the later seasons, it is aloof a helpful general introduction to the demonstrate for newcomers, since most of the episodes are terrific. Fans who favor Joel Hodgson’s style won’t devour this as powerful as the second and third box state, but for most fans the inclusion of “The Skydivers” and “The Creeping Dismay” construct it a must-own.

BLOODLUST! Episode #607. A rip-off of “The Most Uncertain Game,” only with young college kids (one of whom is Robert Reed, future Brady Bunch dad!) . The four dummies land on a jungle island to go exploring and become trapped by the rich but extremely wishy-washy maniac millionaire who owns the island. Apparently, he enjoys hunting down people to turn them into stuffed trophies. The film isn’t really dreadful, unbiased completely unoriginal and acted with total flatness. Robert Reed never seems more than mildly “cheesed” and “fed up” (to quote Mike and `Bots) with the life-threatening status. But it’s season six, and the show’s writers couldn’t do any substandard at this point, and the result is the usual hilarious romp.

CATALINA CAPER. Episode #204. This is the only Joel Hodgson episode in the collection, and it’s an oddball entry in MST3K history: it’s the only time the display took on an overt comedy. Suitable, “Catalina Caper,” a teen 60s bikini beach comedy, isn’t droll at all, but since it doesn’t prefer itself seriously it becomes a tough target to compose fun off. Joel and the `Bots have a favorable time with the lousy `prat-fall’ amusing, the dreadful musical numbers (one featuring Exiguous Richard, waaaay out of his element), skinny Tommy Kirk, and the famed `creepy girl,’ but this is a spotty episode and the weakest in this pack. Don’t design your opinions of Joel’s episodes based on this one.

THE CREEPING Alarm. Episode #606. This is a classic, and one of the worst films the MST3K team ever took on. A broad shag carpet (oh, excuse me, I meant `alien’) starts eating the citizens of a peaceful California town; or at least it gets terminate enough to them so they can hoist themselves into its mouth. And why is the town so unruffled? Because while making the film, someone accidentally kicked the sound equipment into a lake, so the whole movie has almost NO Content SOUND. Yep, we instead have a narrator telling us what the characters are saying, doing, discussing, and so on. You have to gawk it (or hear it) to have it! Mike and the `Bots unload on this one, and it’s a bawl. One of the funniest episodes ever.

THE SKYDIVERS. Episode #609. One of the most beloved of all MST3K episodes. Writer Paul Chaplin said of it: “I don’t want to criticize this movie. I’m too fond of the final result for our reveal…there’s never been a better movie for our treatment.” I’ll drink to that. This drama about the loves and losses of people working at a parachuting school is so outlandish, so bizarrely scripted, so awfully acted, filled with so many inexplicably wack-o characters, and shot with such attractive ineptitude that it positively amazes. The riffing from the hosts is some of the best, sharpest commentary they ever did. This is the first of three movies MST3K did from director Coleman Francis (who makes Ed Wood perceive like Orson Welles!) . The second one, “Red Zone Cuba” is available on its bear DVD. The third, “The Beast of Yucca Flats” isn’t out yet, and Rhino should really collect this one on a future collection.

All four films are offered in “non-MST3K” versions on the flip side of their discs, which is a nice feature if you really want to stare how remarkable the point to added to these poor films. “Bloodlust” and “Catalina Caper” are all honest - although tiring, - on their occupy, but seek how long you can sit through the other two without Mike and Robots before you lumber your eyes out!

So there you have it, three of the most phenomenally humorous episodes of MST3K, plus one of the most original. A vast package for fans and newcomers alike! (Impartial observe out for acid in your parachute!)

Catalina Caper: 1960’s era beach movie with a area that goes something like this: stolen scroll, lil’ Richard singing, dancing, dancing, volleyball, dancing, scuba diving, & dancing. Also appearing in this stink-burger was Lyle Waggoner, from the Carol Burnett expose, as a scuba diving hood. Servo’s song to Creepy Girl is a classic.

The Creeping Terror: Wow! Can that monster bolt! Probably one of the most hilarious movie monsters ever. An weak woman with a motorized cart could easily fetch a design from this creature, and yet dozens of fit young folk earn gobbled up by this overgrown shag carpet. Apparently nobody ever figured out the belief of running away during the 50’s.

Bloodlust: Robert Reed (Mike Brady from the Brady Bunch) stars as a studly young man vacationing on a yacht with his friends. He wears a T-shirt so tight you’d order it was painted on. The location is basically a ripoff of the Most Hazardous Game.

The Sky Divers: Another share of flotsam from Coleman Francis. With acting preformances so tepid that you wonder if the actors have a pulse. Recognize for the truly bizzare dance party with a woman of Amazonian proportions. Also scrutinize for Petey the plane.

As the proverbial saying goes, the area thickens. In all of the first four volumes of Samurai 7, the epic stayed fine factual to the classic movie Seven Samurai, only perhaps a slight more drawn out and a lot slower. But in the previous volume, the battle for the village was wrapped up nicely and a fresh storyline was presented (though in many ways it composed follows what the movie did, only in a different chronological order) .

Now, the mission for Kambei has become attach all of the women taken by the Bandits, and that means he must fade to the capital and face the emperor himself in order to do so. In this volume, old-fashioned enemies presented earlier in the series–and never truly forgotten–are brought attend, extinct allies are mourned, and the samurai are separated into smaller groups.

Like the other four volumes, the action in this volume is serene as solid and crisp as it was previously, and the animation is collected expedient, though definitely not the greatest. The 3D CGI, however, is the best I’ve seen in any anime series. And of course the epic unfolds as dramatically as it had before, even with the newly presented position twists. I felt when the fourth volume ended that the next would be a grand test for the Samurai 7 series, since it was definite that the impartial was to reveal something recent. Luckily, it passed that test and in many ways the memoir now is more spirited and tense than it was before.

Samurai 7 is definitely one of the best anime of 2005-06, and I contemplate this volume proves that (though I assume I remember saying that in my reviews of the other volumes) . For any skeptics out there, Samurai 7 was picked up very recently by IFC, a channel that never before had an interest in anime. I’d recommend this volume of Samurai 7 as well as the four previous ones to anime fans who found some enjoyment out of Akira Kurosawa’s masterpiece of a movie Seven Samurai. I’d also recommend this series to GONZO fans, as Samurai 7, along with Gankutsuou and Last Exile, is one of the best series to arrive out of that studio.

Great DVD for a big series! You should have the collection! The music is enormous, the menus are grand, the costumes are very nice, there are a lot of thing to see in this DVD!

Filmed in Botswana and South Africa, the film tries to be as faithful as it can be to McCall Smith’s books and I loved every second of it!

This is the pilot movie for a unusual series, so lets hope it is successful!

I saw the premier of the Mc Call Smith “the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency on HBO - it was a astonishing production and the cast fit my imagined characters perfectly (I have read all eight books in this series) . I can only recommend this to readers and viewers as a tremendous experience.

He can’t maintain a job down because he’s a drunk, but he believes he can’t bear a job down because every job is shackling his spirit. He can’t hold a relationship because he’s not able to feel anything beyond his contain mind, and that’s such a fountain of strong emotion that he has to dampen it with booze.

This is not a cheerful movie. This is a movie about despair and the agony of addiction. There’s no message of recovery or vindication or even sprint as in Leaving Las Vegas - the simple message is that for some people life is objective too considerable to handle. For that message it’s a good anecdote, unadulterated by the can-do propaganda of self-help America. This is the murky side of civilization, the epic of one of those left slow.

Matt Dillon becomes Chinaski and he delivers a mighty performance, at times violent, aroused, and hopeless, while at other times driven and manic. He sums up his life with the line, “All I want to do is net my check and derive drunk. It might not be superior, but it’s my choice.”

The movie ends with these thoughts, and it’s from that world that Bukowski rose to give us a examine at ourselves.

“If you’re going to try, go all the draw. Otherwise don’t even initiate. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives, jobs. And maybe your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery, isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance. Of how remarkable you really want to do it. And you’ll do it, despite rejection in the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you’re going to try, go all the diagram. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods. And the nights will flame with fire. You will rush life straight to perfect laughter. It’s the only kindly fight there is. ”

It’s not a movie for everyone, but I watched it three times. Dillon couldn’t have done a better job, but I’m disquieted it’s not the fair material for an Oscar nod.

So many people said after this year’s Academy Awards that Matt Dillon should have won an Oscar as best supporting actor for his performance in “Atomize.” Perhaps so, but he deserves an Oscar even more as best actor for “Factotum,” without a doubt. It is an offbeat movie that is not for the kids, but the camera captures the best acting that Dillon has ever done. Even with a beard and somewhat of a paunch, he radiates star power more so than in his other films.

First and foremost, IFC Films should be pushing for his nomination. The reviews are terrific, by and large; and it should be opened nationwide, not impartial in art house theaters. This is a “sleeper” gem of a film. Along with an Oscar nod for Dillon might advance one for Lili Taylor because she is terrific too. Clearly, “Factotum” is an Indie film that has near out of nowhere, ground zero in fact, and might be marked for “stardom” if IFC puts some “muscle” gradual the film in terms of marketing and promoting it.

In turn, its success might propel lots of independent filmmakers to “gain” that they too might “advance for the stars” and actually salvage the brass ring. Dillon is a right talent, and so is Taylor. Marisa Tomei has a little but meaty fraction, and she handles it with aplomb as she always does. For those of us who fell in like with her years ago, when she won an Oscar as best supporting actress in “My Cousin Vinny,” she shines in this movie too.

Even though Dillon’s character, “Henry Chinaski,” is an alcoholic and a womanizer who seems to fail miserably at all of his jobs, the one thread that keeps him alive and engrossing forward is his writing, which is ultimately his redemption–as it was for writer Charles Bukowski, on whose book the film was based. The only minor criticism of the movie might be that it needs some music in various scenes, and the kill credits need to be redone to execute greater clarity because they are impossible to read in a theater.

Season 4 is not my common season it. It was overly sentimental, grand like season 6. But I won’t comment on the season, I’ll comment on the station.

First and foremost, the claim of “director’s cuts” is fallacious and leads people to acquire they’re going to accept an extended episode. A series of extended, slash and alternate footage is a more fair description of what we explore. The presentation, could have been better. I’d rather recognize the new, then peruse the extended (or whatever) version of the scene. I don’t like the compactness of the presentation.

Widescreen, oh let me count the ways. Widescreen versions of the 4th, 5th and 6th season exist. It’s a shame the manufacturer (not to be confused with the distributor–Anchor Bay) Davis-Anderson was unable to glean these versions. Although, I doubt they tried very hard to gain them.

The Commentaries and interviews, key episodes are missing from this. A commentary on Adventures in the Sin Trade was warranted and need. Interviews on other subsequent episodes (mainly, Past Dismal — a key episode in Xena’s backstory) were not be found. However, it’s not because there was nothing shot. There was, however the manufacturer–Davis Anderson–opted to not include the interviews.

Bloopers. Sadly, the only bloopers that seemed to have been kept were the ones that were printed for gag reels and anyone who’s a member of the fan club (or was) has probably seen them. That’s okay. Season 4 has some of my celebrated scramble ups.

The packaging a modern originate to maintain down costs, but I don’t like have to win out one disc to pick up another one out.

There are some glitches in the digital-remastering, but it’s a lot better than the previous sets and the sound is better this time around, in my hold humble notion. Overall, the technical aspects of the sets is improved.

Aside from that, I believe Davis-Anderson lowered their standards to accumulate this status out in a run. It has the aoura of being a rushed to production region.

This DVD should be held up as an example of what DVDs are all about.The transfer and restoration of this 50 year obsolete film is well-behaved. It is the reason we are willing to consume a dinky more to upgrade from VHS and are awed when we leer the unbelievable results. Filmed in “VistaVision”, the widescreen narrate lets you lift in every scene of this fabulous classic from edge to edge. The represent is definite, consuming and in delicate technicolor.The colors are graceful and vibrant.

You have the choice of viewing it in DD5.1 surround or the restored Mono. For those looking for some special features, Rosemary Clooney helps out with a retrospective interview and also commentary. There are English subtitles for those needing them and may also be viewed in French(mono) .

The film is a worship in itself. Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye,Rosemary Clooney,and Vera-Ellen are the stars of this 1954 musical with songs by Irving Berlin that you’ll want to protest along with and maintain humming long after the film has ended. Directed by Michael Curtiz it’s a feel superior film that although takes set during the Christmas season, is one that you can pull out and glimpse anytime of the year.

Bing and Danny were Army buddies, now a successful song and dance team and are out to back their common outmoded retired General(Dean Jagger),who is having disaster coping with retirement. The General is now running a country inn in Vermont, but the colossal pickle is there is no snow to bring up the tourists. Bing and Danny to the rescue, as they turn the inn into a showcase of talent, and descend for the Haines sisters along the map. Can these astounding voices also bring the snow out of the sky? …well..you know.

This film is filled with Berlin’s fantastic tunes. When Bing takes Rosemary’s puny hand in his and croons “Count Your Blessings” to her..well it’s movie heaven. Rosemary also treats us to several numbers, Vera-Ellen does some astonishing hoofing, and Danny clowns and keeps us smiling like only Danny can. And how distinguished fun is it watching Bing and Danny do the “Sisters” number together? …alot! Then there’s the goose bump evoking, wonderfully nostalgic scene of the four of them singing “White Christmas” together with the Winter Wonderland of Vermont as a backdrop.I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the improbable character actress Mary Wicks, she’s a vast busy-body who causes misunderstandings, and also withhold an survey out for George Chakiris and Barrie Journey.
